LASER HAIR REMOVAL

What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to remove unwanted hair using concentrated light beams. This treatment targets the hair follicles, inhibiting future hair growth and providing long-lasting results. It's an effective solution for achieving smooth, hair-free skin with minimal discomfort and downtime.
It's ideal for treating all areas of the face and body for all genders to quickly and efficiently, leave you with smooth, hair-free skin.
Laser hair removal works by using a laser to emit a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. This light energy is converted into heat, which damages the hair follicle and inhibits its ability to produce new hair. The procedure is most effective during the hair's growth phase (anagen), which is why multiple sessions are typically required for optimal results.
To achieve long lasting or permanent hair reduction, it is often recommended to undergo a course of 6-10 treatments ensuring that you leave 4-8 weeks between each session.
What to expect
Your journey begins with a consultation to discuss your goals, assess your skin and hair type, to determine if laser hair removal is right for you. A patch test will also take place at this point. Before the treatment, you may be advised to avoid sun exposure and certain hair removal methods like waxing to ensure the best results.
Our chosen machine is AW3 V ComboTM Plus as its advanced technology achieves superior results. During the procedure, a gel is applied to the area and a handheld laser device will be used to target the hair follicles. You may feel a slight tingling or warming sensation, but most clients find the treatment comfortable if not pain free, especially as our machine uses advanced Crystal Freeze® technology that cools the treatment area instantly, ensuring maximum comfort and safety.
After the session, you might experience some redness or slight swelling in the treated area. This is normal and usually subsides within a few hours to a couple of days. You'll be provided with aftercare instructions to help you maintain the best results.
The number of sessions required varies based on factors such as hair colour, hair thickness, and the treatment area. Typically, 6-10 sessions are needed for optimal results, spaced 4-8weeks apart.

We have both male and female LaserMed technicians, and it is your choice who you prefer to have your treatments performed by. If your appointment is cancelled or comprised due to any of the following reasons your deposit is used to cover some costs of your missed session.
These reasons are as follows:
You cancel your appointment less than 48hours. Do not show for your appointment. Arrive late so we're unable to complete your treatment. Pre-treatment guidelines are not adhered to regarding sun exposure or self-tanning, or new medication is unverified before your visit, meaning that rescheduling is required.
-
Laser hair removal permanently reduces your hair. It can remove anything between 80-100% of all hair – any remaining hair is often light and fluffy.
There are three stages of hair growth and at any one time only 30% of the hairs are visible on the skin surface the rest are in a dormant state, this is why you will need multiple sessions.
-
You can leave 4/8 weeks between sessions, depending on the area and how many treatments you have had. Our therapists will create a personal treatment plan for you at your consultation, prior to any treatments.
-
We ask that you shave your hairs in the area to be treated ideally within 24 hours before your session.
-
We will apply cooling post laser gel after your session, and we advise you to use this at home as well as wear sunscreen on the treated area.
-
As with all laser technology, red, white and grey hairs will not respond to the laser treatment, as they contain no melanin.
We are always completely honest with client’s expectations. Some lighter haired clients do achieve results, but it can be a longer process.
-
We can treat tanned skin as long as the tan isn’t active in the skin, therefore we recommend no sun exposure a minimum of 3 days before and 3 days after your treatments. We always recommend wearing a high factor suncream SPF30+ during your laser treatment programme.
-
Please refrain from applying any false tan for at least 7 days before your treatment. Please ensure any tan residue is completely removed from your skin before treatment. Fake tan can be applied 24 hours after treatments.
If false tan is visible, the therapists will be unable to perform the treatment at that time, and your deposit may be forfeited.
-
Whilst pregnant or breastfeeding, we would recommend that it is best to wait post-pregnancy (3 months) before having any treatments. This will allow time for your hormones to regulate so that you can get the best out of your treatments. It has also never been tested whether laser treatments are safe or unsafe for pregnant ladies.
-
At your consultation, we will always ask if you are taking any medication. If so, we would always advise that you check with your GP first, if you are safe for the treatment. Some medications can cause light sensitive reactions, for which this treatment would be unsuitable.
